Lollipop Chainsaw Movie Adaptation Is Happening, Studio Confirms
Get ready for a zombie-slaying cheerleader to hit the big screen. Dragami Games announced a live-action film based on the Lollipop Chainsaw video game series, according to IGN.
The studio revealed the project at Tokyo Game Show 2026. The movie will be a prequel to the original game, following heroine Juliet Starling in an R-rated action comedy. Per details shared by Deadline, the plot involves a zombie outbreak at her school, forcing Juliet to fight to save her friends and family while keeping her boyfriend Nick close.
An international production team is developing the film. The team includes Joe Teng, Robert Franke, Takafumi Yuki, Kirk Shaw, and Patricio Rabuffetti. There is no indication that original creators Suda51 or James Gunn are currently involved.
Dragami president Shohei Sato said they were excited to see the franchise take this step with a team that understands what makes it special. Producer Robert Franke added that the film aims to be true to the game's spirit while standing on its own for new audiences.
No casting or release date has been announced. The news arrives as Dragami continues to expand the series with a recent remaster, an announced anime, and a sequel game.
