Mario Kart World adds 10 classic SNES tracks in free update today
Nintendo just dropped a free update for Mario Kart World, and it's available right now. IGN and GameSpot report the patch brings 10 classic courses lifted directly from the Super Mario Kart SNES game. Racers can tear through retro favorites like Choco Island, Vanilla Lake, and Ghost Valley.
The courses will be playable in the VS Race mode, complete with the original flat "? Panel" item boxes from the 1992 game instead of the modern floating ones. According to Nintendo's press release, these classic circuits had been hidden in the game's overworld and are now unlocked as standalone races.
Per Nintendo Life, the update also adds two new routes for the Knockout Tour mode: the Propeller Rally and the Turnip Rally. The patch includes a new Spectator Mode for online and LAN play.
This surprise content drop was announced during today's Nintendo Direct presentation. The update contains no new characters or outfits, focusing solely on tracks and a new game mode.
