Mark Hamill Leads Star-Studded Voice Cast for New Darkwing Duck Series
Disney+ is officially reviving the '90s cartoon 'Darkwing Duck' with a brand-new animated series, according to reports from The Hollywood Reporter and TVLine. The streamer has greenlit the project, which features a major voice cast led by Mark Hamill.
Hamill will voice the title hero, Drake Mallard, taking over the role originally voiced by Jim Cummings. Seth Rogen is set to play his sidekick, Launchpad McQuack. Lizzy Caplan will voice Gosalyn Mallard, with Lilimar taking on the role of a new character named Duckie.
The show's official logline, per The Hollywood Reporter, sets up a new story. It states that Darkwing Duck has been stuck for 35 years in an alternate world that doesn't know his legend. A rebellious teen named Duckie arrives to drag the egotistical vigilante back into action to battle old foes like Negaduck and Megavolt.
The supporting cast includes Dan Stevens as Glade McTowers, Tiffany Shepis as Rosa, and Kathryn Newton as Firecracker. The series is executive produced by Sean Tretta and Borja Peña Gorostegui, with original creator Tad Stones serving as a consultant.
As Kotaku notes, the project was first rumored to be in development back in 2020. There is currently no release date for when the series will debut on Disney+.
