Stranger Things 1950s prequel Other Worlds hits Netflix in 2028

Netflix is officially heading back in time. The streamer has announced a new live-action prequel series to its massive hit, set to premiere in 2028, per multiple reports.
The show is titled "Other Worlds: A Stranger Things Adventure" and will be set in 1955 in Marion, Nevada, according to TheWrap. This places it 30 years before the events of the original Hawkins-based series. A teaser showed a boom box playing a 1950s doo-wop song before a thunderous crack in the sky, hinting at a new dimension akin to the Upside Down.
The Duffer Brothers and longtime Stranger Things writer Kate Trefry created the series, with Trefry also serving as showrunner. BAFTA winner Joe Wright, known for films like Pride & Prejudice and Atonement, is set to direct the first three episodes, as reported by /Film and TheWrap.
In a statement via /Film, the Duffer Brothers called the project "Stranger Things, but also thrillingly fresh, with a new setting, new heroes and villains." They added a tease for fans, telling them to "watch the skies, nerds!"
TVLine confirms the series order, with Shawn Levy's 21 Laps also on board to executive produce. TheWrap notes the series will feature all-new characters and a new mythology expanding beyond Hawkins.
