Netflix orders two-season animated Midnight Sun series

Grab your sunscreen, because Netflix is heading back to the world of Twilight. The streamer has officially given the greenlight to an animated adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's spinoff novel, Midnight Sun, according to a report from JoBlo.

The series will consist of two seasons right off the bat. It is being described as an adult animated project, suggesting a tone that may diverge from the original live-action films.

Midnight Sun retells the events of the first Twilight novel from the perspective of the vampire Edward Cullen, rather than Bella Swan. The book was published years after the original series concluded.

This marks the first major adaptation of the Midnight Sun source material. The show will join other Twilight-verse projects in development, expanding the franchise beyond its original film run.
