Mary Bennet Returns for a Married Life Christmas Special on BritBox
BritBox has unveiled first images for a three-part Christmas special of its Jane Austen-inspired series "The Other Bennet Sister." According to Variety, the holiday episodes will follow Mary Bennet, played by Ella Bruccoleri, as she navigates married life with Tom Hayward (Dónal Finn), whose proposal she accepted at the end of season one.
A photo released by TVLine shows the couple sharing a picnic. Per their description, Bruccoleri and Finn appear deep in conversation, though Finn's hand is seen resting on hers.
The special's official logline, reported by Variety, poses the central question: "Who will Mary become as Mrs. Hayward?" A new housemaid character named Lucy, played by Nerys Amber-Stocks, joins the returning ensemble cast.
The series is based on Janice Hadlow's novel. Producer Jane Tranter previously told Variety that while conceived as a limited series, the characters have continued to live on, leaving the door open for more stories.
The Christmas special recently finished filming in Wales and will stream on BritBox in North America, though a specific release date has not been announced.
