Massive Steam achievement leak spoils Kingdom Hearts 4 worlds, Persona 6 details
A major Steam data leak has exposed achievement lists for hundreds of unannounced and upcoming games, per reports from VGC and others. The leak reportedly includes major spoilers for titles like Kingdom Hearts 4 and Persona 6, revealing story details and locations that developers had kept secret.
The breach occurred when the achievement-tracking site Exophase suddenly gained access to data that should have been private. According to VGC, the site's owner stated on a forum that this appears to be a mistake with Valve's API, which accidentally lifted restrictions on viewing these achievements.
The fallout is extensive. The leak reportedly details many of the Disney-themed worlds in Kingdom Hearts 4, a list that had only officially confirmed one. It also contains story information for the highly secretive Persona 6 from Atlus.
Beyond announced games, the data dump hints at projects never before made public. According to VGC's report, these include a potential crossover title featuring Professor Layton and Phoenix Wright, a life simulation game with Nickelodeon characters, a new Tetris entry, and a collection of The Walking Dead games from Telltale. Some entries appear to be tests or cancelled prototypes, including one referencing the TV series Twin Peaks.
This incident marks the second significant leak from Valve's systems in recent weeks. The company has not yet publicly commented on the situation, but the genie is now thoroughly out of the bottle, with spoilers for countless games now circulating online.
