NBC orders full 18-episode season for breakout thriller Line of Fire

NBC has officially given its freshman action thriller "Line of Fire" a full 18-episode season order, per Variety and TVLine. The series was initially slated for 13 episodes, but the network added five more scripts earlier this month, making the order official.

The show has reportedly been a breakout hit for NBC this fall, delivering the network's best delayed-viewing lift in over three years. According to TVLine, the September 21 series premiere has averaged more than 14 million cross-platform viewers.

"Line of Fire" follows the Hollingsworth family, a group of federal employees working across different Washington, D.C., agencies. Peter Krause plays Secret Service agent Mike Hollingsworth, while Hope Davis plays his wife Jane, a U.S. Marshal. Their three children work for the FBI, Department of Justice, and Secret Service, respectively.

Creator Joshua Safran told TVLine the family members are "prickly with each other" but deeply connected, hiding secrets from one another while tackling cases. The series is produced by Universal Television with Jenna Bush Hager also serving as an executive producer.

The show airs on NBC on Monday nights at 10 p.m. and streams the following day on Peacock. The extended season will now run into 2027.
