Netflix and Blizzard team up for animated Diablo series
A Diablo animated series is officially in development for Netflix. Blizzard Entertainment president Johanna Faries announced the project during the BlizzCon 2026 opening ceremony, according to IGN.
Faries, a self-described Diablo player, told the crowd the studio is "thrilled" to be developing the show with Netflix. She called it "just the beginning," teasing that discussions are also happening for potential series based on the Overwatch and Warcraft franchises.
In a press release, Blizzard stated the move is part of an effort to tell stories "beyond gaming." The series will be set in Sanctuary, the dark fantasy world where the games' eternal conflict between angels and demons takes place.
The announcement was part of a larger BlizzCon showcase for the Diablo franchise, which also included the reveal of Diablo 5 for a Spring 2029 release and a new class for Diablo 4.
