Professor Layton and the Curious Village remake announced for 2027 release
A remake of the first Professor Layton game is officially in the works. According to a report from IGN, Level-5 revealed the project during its recent showcase event.
The developer stated the revamped version of Professor Layton and the Curious Village will launch sometime in 2027. It is planned for Nintendo Switch, the upcoming Switch successor, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam.
Per details shared in a press release, the game's visuals are getting a major overhaul. The characters have been redesigned in 3D, and the village of St. Mystere will feature more detailed and immersive environments. The animated story sequences are also being upgraded to higher resolution and widescreen formats.
The announcement comes ahead of the original puzzle title's 20th anniversary next year. A brand-new entry in the series, Professor Layton and the New World of Steam, already has a release date set for this December.
