Resident Evil Creator Shinji Mikami to Enter D.I.C.E. Hall of Fame
Resident Evil mastermind Shinji Mikami is getting a major industry honor. Per IGN, the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences will induct him into its Hall of Fame at a ceremony in February 2027.
The organization announced that fellow developer Goichi "SUDA51" Suda, a longtime friend and colleague, will present the award. In a statement shared by IGN, Suda called Mikami his "Obi-Wan Kenobi" and credited him with teaching him how to direct and design games.
The report notes Mikami's three-decade career includes work on franchises like Devil May Cry and Dino Crisis, plus titles such as The Evil Within and Hi-Fi Rush.
Currently, Mikami leads his own studio, Unbound Inc., which was recently acquired by Shift Up. He is reportedly working on a new, unannounced project.
Meggan Scavio, president of the AIAS, stated Mikami is "a monumental and influential figure" whose work has inspired the action genre, according to IGN. He will join past inductees including Koji Kondo, Todd Howard, and Tim Schafer.
