Donald Glover to Write, Direct, and Star in Live-Action PUBG Netflix Series

Donald Glover is taking on the battle royale. According to reports from IGN and GameSpot, the multi-hyphenate star is set to write, direct, produce, and headline a live-action TV series based on PUBG for Netflix.

His brother, Stephen Glover, will also co-write and executive produce the project, per IGN. The series is being developed through Krafton's entertainment division, LV3H. Krafton is the South Korean company behind the game.

The show will draw from the game's established lore, which IGN outlines. The story involves a billionaire who creates a deadly contest on an island, forcing 100 people to fight until one survives. The lore connects this to a historical tradition called 'Magna Venari: The Great Hunt.'

PC Gamer notes that PUBG's loose narrative could give Glover creative freedom. The outlet highlights his award-winning work on projects like 'Atlanta' and his music video for 'This Is America.'

No further details about the series' plot or release window have been announced. This marks another major video game adaptation landing at Netflix.
