Resident Evil Director Zach Cregger Casts Christina Hendricks as His Lady Dimitrescu
Resident Evil director Zach Cregger has a dream casting for one of the franchise's most famous characters, per IGN.
In an interview with Pedestrian.TV, Cregger revealed he would cast actress Christina Hendricks to play Lady Dimitrescu in a live-action adaptation. The character, a towering vampire-like villain, became an instant icon upon her debut in 2021's Resident Evil Village.
However, IGN notes that Cregger's upcoming Resident Evil movie will not feature Lady Dimitrescu or other fan-favorite characters. The director described his film as an original story separate from the games.
The outlet reports that Capcom previously capitalized on the character's popularity with life-size cardboard cutouts in stores. Lady Dimitrescu's costume was also unlockable in this year's Resident Evil Requiem Deluxe Edition.
While Cregger's film has faced some fan criticism for its original take, early buzz is reportedly positive. The director has already expressed ideas for potential sequels, leaving the door open for a future appearance by Hendricks as the infamous lady.
