RuneScape 4 Announced, Animated Show in Works With MoistCr1TiKaL

Developer Jagex dropped two major announcements from its RuneFest event, as reported by Polygon.
The first is RuneScape 4, a new massively multiplayer online game built in Unreal Engine. According to executive producer Jesse America, the project began as an expansion for the survival game Dragonwilds called Shadows of Ashenfall. Player feedback requesting more social features reportedly led the team to evolve it into a full MMO, which will feature dragons players can battle and ride.
Separately, Jagex revealed plans for a RuneScape animated series. The project is a partnership with Lyrical Animation and popular streamer Charlie "MoistCr1TiKaL" White, whom a press release described as a maxed-out player and fan. Per Polygon, the extent of White's creative role is not yet clear.
Jagex has not confirmed the future of its existing titles, which include the main RuneScape client, its old-school version, and Dragonwilds. America called the new MMO a "fourth pillar" for the studio, implying the others will continue.
RuneScape 4 is in early development with no release date. Details on the animated show are also scarce.
