Selaco's Massive Update Doubles Game Size, Adds Explosive Firepower
The ambitious early access shooter Selaco is about to get a whole lot bigger. PC Gamer reports that a colossal update titled "The Machines of War" is launching soon.
Developer Altered Orbit Studios calls the coming patch "an absolute behemoth." It will introduce the game's entire second chapter, which alone adds 19 new maps and roughly six to eight hours of fresh campaign. The story expansion will also finally give the protagonist a voice and introduce a persistent, unstoppable machine enemy that hunts the player.
The arsenal is getting a serious upgrade, too. New tools of destruction will include a minigun and a hefty firearm that shoots projectiles which detonate on impact. Players can also deploy automated turrets and drones, and pick up bulky single-use weapons found in the environment.
According to the report, this isn't just new content. The first chapter is getting a design overhaul with improved set pieces. The enemy AI, inspired by FEAR, has been almost completely rewritten to be smarter and to include new systems like enemy patrols when not in combat.
The update will also feature a new lighting system, overhauled particle effects, better controls, new music, and improved level navigation. Due to the scale of the changes, previous save files will not work after the patch is applied. The update is scheduled to drop in mid-November.
