Stellar Blade 2's AI music video gets a brutal roasting from fans and press
Developer Shift Up just dropped a major marketing beat for Stellar Blade 2: Blood Rain, and it has backfired spectacularly. Per multiple outlets including IGN and VGC, the studio released a K-pop music video starring the game's new protagonist, Evie, that was entirely generated using AI.
The reaction has been overwhelmingly negative, even from the game's most ardent supporters. Fans online are calling it 'AI slop' and asking 'are we deadass?', according to VGC and Kotaku. Push Square reports the sentiment is one of profound disappointment, with critics questioning where the artistry is in the AI-generated clip.
Eurogamer notes the video was meant to promote the upcoming action sequel, but it seems to have had the opposite effect, tempering fan excitement. Shift Up is currently getting, as Push Square puts it, 'utterly roasted' across social media for the move.
