Stephen Root confirms GTA 6 role, appears to spill the beans early
Actor Stephen Root has gone slightly off-script, confirming he's in Grand Theft Auto 6 before Rockstar Games officially announced the cast. According to IGN and Polygon, Root let the news slip in an interview with the Associated Press.
"Yeah, you’re gonna see me in it," Root said when asked about fan speculation. He noted that his character was shown in a trailer "almost a year ago" and that fans who know his voice from King of the Hill likely figured it out already.
Root is playing Brian Heder, a character featured in recent trailers. Per Rockstar's official description, Heder is a classic drug runner from the Florida Keys who lets protagonist Jason live rent-free in one of his properties. In exchange, Jason has to help with "local shakedowns."
Remarkably, Rockstar has yet to confirm any actors for the massive title, leaving fans to piece together the cast. The identities of the main protagonists, Jason and Lucia, remain officially unannounced.
GTA 6 is scheduled for release on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
