Take-Two CEO Says Borderlands Movie Was a Failure

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has bluntly assessed the company's recent film adaptation, stating, 'We failed,' per GameSpot.
Speaking at a Business Insider Live event, Zelnick acknowledged that the 2024 Borderlands movie was a massive box office flop. He stated that Take-Two's corporate mission is to make the best entertainment on Earth.
He admitted the film did not meet that mark, despite the company's efforts. Zelnick said the team 'tried incredibly hard' on the project.
The CEO's comments mark a rare public admission of failure for a major video game publisher's venture into Hollywood. The Borderlands film, starring Cate Blanchett and Kevin Hart, was a critical and commercial disappointment.
