The Odyssey Sails to $25 Million Friday, Eyes $84.5 Million Weekend

Christopher Nolan's 'The Odyssey' is refusing to sink at the box office. Per Variety, the film held strong with a $25.9 million haul on Friday as it entered its second weekend with no major competition in sight.

By Sunday, the film is expected to have earned $84.5 million domestically. That figure, according to The Hollywood Reporter, represents a minuscule 32% drop from its massive $124 million opening, a rare hold for a blockbuster.

The weekend projection is setting records for the director. As reported by JoBlo, it's on track to become Nolan's biggest second weekend ever, surpassing the second frame of 'The Dark Knight'. TheWrap notes it's also topping the entire domestic opening weekend of his previous film, 'Oppenheimer'.

Globally, the film is projected to rocket past the $500 million mark by the end of its second frame, according to TheWrap's report.
