Universal to Push Anne Hathaway for Oscar With 'The Odyssey' Campaign
Universal Pictures will campaign for Anne Hathaway to score a Best Supporting Actress nomination for her role in 'The Odyssey,' according to a report from MovieWeb.
The film, directed by Christopher Nolan, is already considered a major awards season contender. Hathaway plays Penelope, the wife of Odysseus, portrayed by Matt Damon, who is expected to be a Best Actor candidate.
MovieWeb notes that Hathaway's co-star Samantha Morton, who plays the witch Circe, is also widely expected to be nominated in the same supporting category. This would leave Damon as the film's sole likely contender outside of the supporting acting races.
Other cast members like Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, and John Leguizamo have generated buzz for their supporting roles, but the report suggests the studio's focus for now is on securing nominations for Hathaway and Morton.
If Hathaway were to win, she would become only the third woman to ever win two Oscars for Best Supporting Actress. The Oscar nominations will be announced on January 21, 2027.
