Zendaya to go for Best Actress Oscar for Dune: Part Three role

Zendaya to go for Best Actress Oscar for Dune: Part Three role

Zendaya is switching up her Oscar strategy for the final Dune film. According to a Variety exclusive, the actress will be pushed for consideration in the Best Actress category for her part as Chani in Dune: Part Three.

This is a change from the first two films in Denis Villeneuve's series, where her campaign was for the supporting actress race. The outlet's sources say the move reflects Chani's larger part in the story this time around.

Warner Bros. and the star's team had no comment on the report, per Variety.

The third film is set years after Paul Atreides, played by Timothée Chalamet, took the throne. The story follows his troubled reign and a growing conspiracy, with Chani reportedly central to the mystery. The film hits theaters and IMAX on December 18.

Zendaya could have a busy awards season. She is also expected to campaign for Best Actress for her role in the dark comedy The Drama and for supporting actress for her work in Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey.
