It's a polarizing show where the style is working harder than the story. The visuals and aesthetic are widely praised, but the core mystery around Robert Mallory and The Trawler is dragging the score down for many, who find the plot unoriginal and painfully slow. Igby Rigney's performance as Bret is a bright spot that some are clinging to, and Evan Rachel Wood's Liz Schaffer is universally loved in her limited scenes.
