Before release
Updated nightlyIt's a split reaction, with more people mixed or negative than outright positive. A lot of the talk is about the cast, and Taika Waititi is a major sticking point, with many finding his involvement a turn-off. The story about an Artificial Friend bonding with a girl is already getting criticized as feeling unoriginal, and there's little excitement for the humor. The handful of mentions for acting are strong, but that's a tiny part of a conversation dominated by skepticism about the director and the concept.
