The film
The fan favorite champions—now joined by Johnny Cage himself—are pitted against one another in the ultimate, no-holds barred, gory battle to defeat the dark rule of Shao Kahn that threatens the very existence of the Earthrealm and its defenders.
This one's a real split decision, but the general feeling is that it's a solid, fun upgrade over the first film. Karl Urban's Johnny Cage is the clear standout, with his humor and charisma basically carrying the movie, and the overall action and gore look great. That said, the thin, predictable story (the heroes fighting Shao Kahn's dark rule) and slow pacing really hold it back for a lot of people. Beyond Urban and a few fun side characters like Kitana and Kano, the rest of the cast doesn't leave much of an impression.
