It's a solid crowdpleaser that mostly works because it's funny and the cast is having a blast. Jake Johnson carries it as washed-up tennis pro Dustin Boyd, who's trying to save a country club by breaking into pickleball, and Mary Steenburgen gets plenty of love too. The humor and acting are the clear highlights, though the story itself feels pretty familiar. A few cameos, like John McEnroe and Aaron Chen, land really well, while the whole pickleball premise gets a mixed but amused shrug.
