George Hardy is a shepherd who reads detective novels to his beloved sheep every night, assuming they can't possibly understand. But when a mysterious incident disrupts life on the farm, the sheep realize they must become the detectives. As they follow the clues and investigate human suspects, they prove that even sheep can be brilliant crime-solvers.

This is a straight-up crowd-pleaser — people love this silly, heartwarming mystery. The sheep detectives, voiced by a terrific cast led by Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Bryan Cranston, are a hilarious and surprisingly clever hook. The humor and originality are huge hits, even if Hugh Jackman’s kindly shepherd George is a bit of a mixed bag. The only real note of complaint is from a handful who found the pacing a bit sluggish, but for most, it's just a really fun time.
