Alan Ritchson in Talks to Replace Jason Momoa in 'Helldivers' Movie
Alan Ritchson is negotiating to star in Sony's live-action adaptation of the video game 'Helldivers,' according to reports from The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline. He would replace Jason Momoa, who was previously attached to the project but departed in June, with sources citing "creative differences."
Director Justin Lin remains set to helm the sci-fi action film, which is scheduled for release on November 10, 2027. The project hails from PlayStation Productions and adapts the cooperative shooter games from Arrowhead Game Studios.
The 'Helldivers' games center on elite shock troopers defending the fictional planet Super Earth from alien attacks. The 2024 sequel was a major breakout, selling over 12 million copies quickly and becoming PlayStation's fastest-selling title.
Ritchson, best known for leading Amazon's 'Reacher' series, has been building his film career with roles in 'Fast X' and 'The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.' If a deal is finalized, the 'Helldivers' movie would mark his first time headlining a major theatrical studio feature.
