Avengers: Doomsday presales already beat Supergirl's total global haul

Forget opening weekend. Marvel's 'Avengers: Doomsday,' which hits theaters in December, is already a box office monster before a single frame has publicly screened. According to a report from Forbes cited by MovieWeb, the film has already pulled in a staggering $125 million in global presales.
That massive advance number is enough to eclipse the entire theatrical run of DC's recent 'Supergirl' film, which finished with a worldwide total of $126.4 million.
The presale pace is reportedly historic. The $65 million from U.S. tickets alone, secured over six weeks before release, is said to be ahead of the pace set by 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' on its path to a $150 million presale benchmark. Early trade estimates, per MovieWeb, suggest a domestic opening weekend that could land between a quarter billion and $300 million, which would be a record-shattering debut if the projections hold.
MovieWeb notes that the clash of cinematic universes extends to the release date, where 'Doomsday' will open opposite 'Dune: Part Three.' The latter's reported $25 million in presales points to a David-and-Goliath scenario at the box office, though the 'Dune' franchise has a history of playing the long game.
