Chuck Norris's 1986 flop Firewalker surges to number two on Tubi

Forget Indiana Jones, an old Chuck Norris adventure is finding a new audience. Per MovieWeb, the 1986 film Firewalker has climbed to the number two spot on Tubi's U.S. top ten chart, trailing only the thriller Death Sentence.

The movie, which starred Norris and Louis Gossett Jr. as treasure hunters, was a notorious flop in its day. It grossed just over $10 million domestically and was widely panned for heavily borrowing from other adventure films. The outlet notes that supporting actor John Rhys-Davies, who played Sallah in the Indiana Jones series, appears in Firewalker.

At the time, the film was a departure for Norris, who was Cannon Films' biggest star. He reportedly had to convince the studio to let him attempt a more comedic, lighthearted role. During production, Norris said the film's success would determine if he did more roles like it, commenting on Sylvester Stallone's film Rhinestone as a cautionary tale.

The plot follows Norris and Gossett as broke fortune hunters who team up with a psychic heiress, played by Melody Anderson, to find Aztec gold. The film relies on buddy banter rather than Norris's typical action.
