Brad Pitt's Cliff Booth Hits '70s Hollywood in Fincher-Directed Trailer
A surprise trailer has dropped for a film from two of cinema's biggest names, but only one is directing. According to /Film, "The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth" is written by Quentin Tarantino but will be directed by David Fincher.
The film is a spin-off from Tarantino's 2019 movie "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood," bringing back Brad Pitt as the stuntman Cliff Booth. The new story shifts the action to the 1970s, where Cliff now works as a fixer for Hollywood studios.
This project marks a significant collaboration, as the report notes Tarantino and Fincher are both icons from a similar era but have vastly different directorial styles. The trailer asks if Tarantino's dialogue can mesh with Fincher's visual bleakness.
The move also relates to Tarantino's famous vow to only make ten films. His last, "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood," was his ninth. He scrapped his planned tenth film, "The Movie Critic," last year.
Rather than directing this Cliff Booth story himself as his final film, Tarantino reportedly didn't want to waste the idea. He and Netflix instead brought Fincher on board to helm the project.
