Dragon Quest Franchise Sells Over 100 Million Units
The Dragon Quest series has officially surpassed 100 million lifetime unit sales, Square Enix announced today.
Creator Yuji Horii marked the milestone with a short video thanking fans, as reported by Nintendo Life. He also used the moment to remind everyone about the upcoming game Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World.
The publisher noted that recent remakes like Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake and Dragon Quest VII Reimagined have helped push the franchise past this sales threshold. The series first launched in 1986.
According to a press release shared by Nintendo Life, the franchise is credited as a pioneer in the JRPG genre. It now spans 11 main titles and numerous spin-offs, films, and merchandise.
Push Square also covered the news, noting the series' remarkable consistency over four decades. Fans are still eagerly awaiting news on the next mainline entry, Dragon Quest 12: Beyond Dreams.
