G.I. Joe reboot starring Bradley Cooper sets October 2028 release

Paramount has officially scheduled its new G.I. Joe movie for October 20, 2028, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The project is being directed and co-written by Danny McBride and will star Bradley Cooper in the role of Duke.

The film is described as a fresh take on the long-running franchise. McBride is writing the script with collaborators Jeff Fradley and John Carcieri.

MovieWeb notes that McBride has indicated a specific location from the lore will be central to the plot. The fictional Cobra stronghold known as Springfield is expected to feature heavily, potentially introducing characters connected to that setting.

Past live-action films include 2009's "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra," its 2013 sequel "Retaliation," and the 2021 standalone "Snake Eyes." Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura is returning for this new reboot.
