Godzilla Minus Zero Scores Huge $6.7M in Thursday Box Office Previews

A new kaiju king is rising at the box office. According to reports from MovieWeb and JoBlo, the new Godzilla film, *Godzilla Minus Zero*, roared to a massive $6.7 million in Thursday previews.
That figure is a new record for distributor GKIDS, easily surpassing the previous high set by a 2023 Studio Ghibli film. It also more than tripled the preview haul of its acclaimed predecessor, the 2023 Oscar winner *Godzilla Minus One*.
More notably, per MovieWeb, the Japanese sequel's preview number even edged out the $6.3 million Thursday posted by the big-budget Hollywood film *Godzilla: King of the Monsters* in 2019. Tracking now suggests the film could earn between $25 million and $35 million for the weekend.
If it lands in first place, it would be a rare feat, becoming only the fourth film not in English to debut at number one in the domestic market. The weekend's other major newcomer, *Ramayana: Rise of a Legend*, opened to $3.5 million in previews, meaning Godzilla nearly doubled its take.
