Gears of War movie director says project will 'hopefully' happen soon

Director David Leitch gave a cautiously optimistic update on the long-gestating Gears of War movie.

In an interview with ScreenRant, Leitch said the project, which is in development at Netflix, will "hopefully" come to fruition "soon."

"I think everybody's excited about the potential of this as a film universe," Leitch told the outlet, per GameSpot.

The director of the first John Wick film reportedly added that he wished he could share more details.

The video game adaptation has been talked about for years, but Leitch's comments suggest momentum is building behind the scenes.
