Insomniac denies using AI in Wolverine, blames glitchy signs on a bug
Insomniac Games has directly addressed online rumors that Marvel's Wolverine uses AI-generated assets, per IGN and Kotaku. The speculation started after a viral TikTok video highlighted bizarre, distorted bathroom signs within the game.
The clip, shared by a user named SmoothMango, showed bathroom symbols with human figures appearing to melt together. The strange visuals led some players online to suggest the assets were created with generative AI tools.
Insomniac's community director, James Stevenson, responded on social media to shut down the theory. He attributed the odd signs to a technical error involving a UV map, a common graphical component. Stevenson stated the team has already developed a correction for the visual glitch.
He explicitly confirmed that no part of the PS5 game was built using AI generation methods. According to Kotaku, this incident is the latest in a series of online critiques the game has faced since its launch last week, following earlier discussions about its linear story and a visual effect fans nicknamed 'fart gas.'
