LittleBigPlanet dev reportedly making an Animal Crossing-like game
Media Molecule, the studio behind LittleBigPlanet, is reportedly cooking up a social-sim game in the style of Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon, per a report from MP1st. The outlet claims the project has been in development for a while and utilizes similar social-simulation mechanics to those popular titles.
The report, covered by IGN, says the title is planned for a 2027 release, assuming development stays on track. Not many gameplay details have surfaced, though an employee earlier this year hinted the developer's next project would be open-world.
This news arrives as PlayStation has tightened its investment strategy, shuttering some studios and cutting others after recent underperformances. Media Molecule's last release was the ambitious creation tool Dreams in early 2020, which did not find a wide audience.
According to the report, the studio's future could depend on the success of this new social-sim project.
