Magic The Gathering's new hero Tamira is revealed as Jace's replacement
Per Polygon, Magic: The Gathering's upcoming Reality Fracture set introduces a new hero who will replace longtime Planeswalker Jace Beleren.
The story details that Jace was killed after attempting to rewrite reality, but his psyche fractured. One fragment, the Theorist, took control, created a soulless Echoverse, and planned to overwrite the original Multiverse.
Jace also created Tamira, or Tam, a student at Strixhaven, as a backup plan. She was secretly part of Jace and initially aided the Theorist, even betraying a friend. However, after learning the Echoverse would consume all original souls, she turned against him.
According to the reported storyline, Tam chooses to oppose the Theorist, marking her first real independent choice. She seeks to fix her mistakes, telling a former classmate, "You trusted me, and I failed you. So it's my job to fix it."
The climax sees other Planeswalkers freeing the trapped fragments of Jace's mind. Vraska stabs the Theorist, the fragments recombine, and Jace is briefly whole again before dying, with the fate of his spell now tied to his life. Tam is positioned as a major new character moving forward.
