Marvel's Wolverine lets players dial the game speed down for slo-mo action
Marvel's Wolverine includes a feature that hands players total control over the game's speed, per IGN. This option allows for dramatic, cinematic slow-motion action sequences.
The setting is part of Insomniac Games' accessibility menu. Players can map the function to any controller button, letting them toggle between normal speed and a custom slower pace. One player demonstrated mapping it to a D-pad to slow gameplay to 30%, creating a hyper-stylized effect.
This slow-motion control lets players choreograph combat, such as watching blood spray across the screen or Wolverine's claws sink into an enemy before speeding time back up. IGN notes the feature has a Zack Snyder-esque quality, indulging in violent, stylized shots.
The option was also available in Insomniac's previous title, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, where it was used to capture graceful web-swinging animations. It provides creators a tool for crafting unique gameplay footage.
Insomniac Games stated it is listening to player feedback to refine the Wolverine experience post-launch. Actor Liam McIntyre, who voices Wolverine, told IGN he is proud of the game despite some harsh comments, having experienced backlash before.
