Minecraft's Nintendo Switch 2 version lands in October with an upgrade path
Mojang is officially bringing a native version of its block-building juggernaut to Nintendo's upcoming console. IGN reports that Minecraft is coming to the Switch 2 very soon, and original Switch owners will be entitled to an upgrade.
The Switch 2 version, launching on October 27, 2026 according to GameSpot, will feature what Mojang calls "Vibrant Visuals." This default graphics upgrade promises enhanced lighting and shadow effects, taking advantage of the new hardware's capabilities.
Polygon and Nintendo Life confirm the October date and the digital upgrade path for existing owners. While the game has been playable via backwards compatibility, this native release is designed to fully leverage the Switch 2's power.
