Mortal Shell 2 surprise open beta is live and free on all platforms
Don't tell the other soulslike games, but Mortal Shell 2 just dropped a surprise party. An open beta for the anticipated action RPG is available to play for free right now, according to reports from VGC, Eurogamer, and Push Square.
The beta lets you play the first three hours of the game, and VGC reports that any progress you make will carry over to the full release. It's available across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam, where Eurogamer notes the sequel already racked up over 500,000 wishlists.
Publisher Playstack and developer Cold Symmetry are clearly feeling confident. Push Square frames it as a 'play it before you shell out' opportunity for fans of the genre. The original game's Revered Edition for PS5 recently sold out, per Eurogamer, so the hype is very real.
