Overwatch teases mysterious omnic detective hero and reveals vampire support Doctrine
Blizzard has quietly revealed a first look at a brand-new Omnic hero, according to IGN. The unnamed character, designated Hero 55, appeared in a group shot of the 2026 roster shown at BlizzCon, sporting a robotic trench coat, a hat, and what looks like an umbrella weapon. He is confirmed to be another Support class hero.
Fans immediately began speculating about the design, with some dubbing him a 'Sherlock Holmes Omnic' and theorizing about healing abilities tied to the umbrella. Per IGN, this marks a shift from Blizzard's typical silhouette teasers, offering a surprisingly detailed early glimpse.
The reveal came alongside the official introduction of Doctrine, a new vampire-themed Support hero. IGN reports that Doctrine will launch with Season 5 on October 6 and is playable for a trial weekend starting September 12. He will debut with a new escort map set inside a volcanic containment facility.
In other major news from the convention, significant character reworks are on the way. Roadhog is being overhauled to function more as a traditional team-helping tank, while Sombra is being moved into the support class, per IGN's reporting. The event also featured the 2026 World Cup Finals with live musical performances.
Game director Aaron Keller teased a new Spotlight event for February 2027, promising a new story, fresh heroes, and systems aimed at reaching 'peak Overwatch.' For now, fans will have to wait for more details on the mysterious umbrella-wielding Omnic.
