Resident Evil series story may reach its end within a decade

Capcom's long-running zombie saga is heading for a finale. According to IGN, producer Jun Takeuchi told a Japanese outlet that the overarching Resident Evil narrative has a planned conclusion.
Takeuchi explained that the story grew with each new installment, but a broader strategy was mapped out years ago. This plan was formed around the time the remake of Resident Evil 2 was being developed.
He said the first phase of that plan has now wrapped up. Per the report, Takeuchi stated he believes the story's final chapter will arrive in the next ten years.
For fans concerned this means a content drought, Takeuchi promised more games are coming before the end. He reportedly confirmed there will be multiple new titles, though he wouldn't spoil details.
IGN's report also notes the series' continued commercial power, with recent games like Resident Evil Requiem generating hundreds of millions in revenue. A remake of Code Veronica is slated for next year.
