Poppy Playtime Co-op Spinoff Hits Steam Early Access in October
The multiplayer horror spinoff Escape from Playtime has gotten an Early Access release date, per IGN. The game will launch on Steam on October 21.
In Escape from Playtime, players take on the role of Smiling Critters stuck inside the abandoned Playtime Co. factory. The goal is to work together to escape. A mysterious voice gives instructions to build a home for loyal and useful toys.
Gameplay involves solving puzzles, hiding, and sneaking. It also uses proximity chat, meaning talking too loudly can attract the factory's dangerous rejects, leading to a quick end.
IGN notes that developer Mob Entertainment signed a movie deal with Legendary Pictures last year, aiming to follow Five Nights at Freddy's path to the big screen. The franchise also has a line of McFarlane Toys action figures.
