The Odyssey sinks Gladiator, holds stronger than The Dark Knight
The epic voyage isn't just a hit, it's a box office monster. According to Variety, The Odyssey sailed to a massive $87 million in its second weekend, a shockingly low 30% drop from its opening.
That small dip puts it in elite company, as TheWrap notes it's among the best holds for any film that opened over $100 million. In fact, Polygon reports the film has now beaten a Christopher Nolan record previously held by The Dark Knight.
The journey is just beginning globally, where the film has already crossed $600 million worldwide. Collider points out that in just 10 days, it has officially outgrossed both of Ridley Scott's Gladiator epics.
