Street Fighter movie ties for biggest second-week box office drop in 14 years

The new video game adaptation 'Street Fighter' is stumbling hard after a strong opening. According to reports from ScreenRant, the film is projected to drop a brutal 74 percent in its second weekend.
Opening on top with $30.8 million, the movie is now expected to fall to fourth place, earning just $8.15 million in its sophomore frame. This ties it for the 136th biggest second-weekend drop on record, matching films like 2024's 'Werewolves'.
For distributor Paramount, this is their largest drop for a narrative film in 14 years. Per ScreenRant, it ranks as the studio's fourth-worst decline ever, behind only 'Star Trek: Nemesis', 'Marci X', and 'The Devil Inside'.
The film, starring Andrew Koji and Noah Centineo, carries a reported $82 million budget. While Paramount may have already profited due to a co-production deal, the steep fall suggests weak word-of-mouth that could threaten any planned sequel teased in the film's ending.
The performance marks another box office setback for the newly merged Skydance Paramount. It follows the major financial disappointment of the Tom Cruise film 'Digger', the last release from Warner Bros. before the merger.
