Ubisoft delays Rayman Legends Retold just weeks before its October release
Ubisoft has pushed back the release of Rayman Legends Retold from October 1 to December 3, according to reports from IGN and VGC. The delay comes despite the game having already gone gold, meaning it is ready for manufacturing.
The publisher announced the move in a social media statement, per Kotaku. It said the development team was taking extra time to polish the game, ensuring "every detail gets the care it deserves." A new trailer and fresh hands-on impressions from press and creators are scheduled for September 22.
VGC notes the new date could help the remake avoid a crowded late September and early October release window, which includes titles like Gears of War E-Day, Control Resonant, and Silent Hill Townfall. Push Square points out that a delay after a game has gone gold is a rare occurrence.
Rayman Legends Retold is a 3D reimagining of the 2013 platformer, built in Ubisoft's Snowdrop engine. Kotaku reports it was one of Ubisoft's only major new game releases planned for this fall, alongside Just Dance: Decades of Hits.
