Wardogs Early Access Sales Smash Past Arc Raiders and Helldivers 2
Wardogs, the tactical FPS from Bulkhead, is selling faster than some of its biggest competitors right out of the gate, according to new analysis reported by IGN.
Data from Alinea Analytics shows the game has sold roughly 2.2 million copies on Steam since its September 10 early access launch. That pace exceeds the launch numbers for Arc Raiders, which sold 1.7 million, and Helldivers 2, which sold 1 million, on Valve's platform.
Analyst Rhys Elliott's data also indicates Wardogs has generated about $70 million in revenue on Steam alone. Per IGN, that figure already tops the total revenue Bungie's Marathon has earned across all platforms to date. "It's another reminder that, when it comes to live-service games, community trumps budget and pedigree," Elliott said.
The game is priced at $40, which Elliott suggested hits a "sweet spot" below the standard $70 for major releases. The studio's Steam page states it plans to remain in early access for one to two years, with a console version targeted for 2028.
Bulkhead has announced that the game's second season will introduce a significant amount of fresh material and gameplay tweaks. The developer stated it is entering a new phase of development.
Despite a rocky launch that saw some technical complaints, user reviews on Steam have since improved to "Very Positive." Various clips of chaotic in-game moments have spread widely online.
