The Real Review

This one's a split decision that leans toward disappointment, with the general take being it's a tired rehash that fails to live up to the original franchise. Gemma, a mom who can pull creatures from the spirit realm called The Further into our world, is a concept some felt had potential, but most found the story predictable and unoriginal. The only real bright spots are the solid acting across the board, especially from a returning Lin Shaye, and the reliably creepy visuals that keep it from being a total bust. A vocal group absolutely hated the pacing, calling it a slog, and reactions to director Jacob Chase were notably poor.
